“If Music, I Mean ‘Pumpkin Pie,’ Be the Food of Love, Play On …”

Manna from heaven! Albeit, too light on the whipping cream.

Vegetables are a must on a diet. I suggest carrot cake, zucchini bread, and pumpkin pie.

I had dreams of it tasting like a pumpkin pie. Of course, it didn’t. I hated it.

Fall is my favorite time of year; even here in northern California where the leaves are in their glorious color in the middle to end of November. During the day, it’s in the high 50’s to low 60’s and at night it’s crisp, without being too cold. In addition, there’s college or NFL football on TV nearly every day (not that I watch obsessively, because I really don’t). The best part of fall, though, without a doubt is pumpkin pie.
One of the greatest foods in human history, pumpkin pie is something I appreciate more than, I believe, just about any other delectable. I’m not a huge eater, but toss me some crab legs and I’ll polish them off quickly. Thin crust, NY-style pizza – eat half of a large in short order. A nice, juicy steak goes down this gullet in no time flat. You get the idea.
You’re thinking, this guy has no “food-filter.” I look at it like my body craves this oh-so-healthy (les aliments sains) vegetable. I’m sure my pumpkin pie addiction is due to the fact that pumpkin contains the following:
- vitamins – full of vitamin A, and also has vitamins C, K, and E
- antioxidants, in particular alpha and beta-carotenes
- minerals – magnesium, potassium, copper, calcium, and iron
- fiber, protein, and omega-3 fatty acids
Fortunately, pumpkin pie is for the most part a seasonal food. Otherwise, it would be difficult to maintain my boyish figure. But, thankfully, there’s still some season left, and I say “pumpkin pie: play on, food of love!”
