How can you resist that face?
Duke’s little puppy tongue licked my hand and it felt like fine, wet sandpaper. His cue to go outside. It was 12:30 in the morning. His tiny bladder just can’t hold his water. *sigh*
I could be grumpy having my sleep interrupted. It was chilly, I had no coat on, and the bed was a lot warmer.
He did his business and we went back in the house. As I crawled into bed, and quickly warmed up, my mind raced about what I could write about, what needed to be done the next day, and bills that had to be paid. And then I had one of those moments of clarity: For me, it’s when I feel connected to the spirit of God. I laid still and listened to my wife’s slow, peaceful breathing and felt Duke lean against my feet at the end of the bed.
Life was simple and uncomplicated because of those two things; if only for a few seconds. And I fell asleep quickly.
Your puppy is so cute. I love those moments when I am able to find something precious in an event that at another time would make me grumpy or frustrated. It’s so freeing.

Aww he’s a cute dog! I have those moments too when time just sits still and I observe things that I normally would not notice if I didn’t take the time to just stop and reflect. I like those moments, they make you realize how lucky you are to have what you have and to live in a beautiful place.

! Ah, at least your puppy is considerate enough to wake you up, our dog, Alice, will just soil herself right on our bed. More walks have solved this problem, thankfully 
He has one blue eye and one brown eye. He’s a mini-Australian Shepherd. Very similar to the Border Collie. And yes, we are lucky he wakes us up – last night 3:30 am unfortunately!
